Net-Log Firmware Upgrades
For instructions on how to upgrade the Net-Log firmware, please consult the manual supplied with the unit.
Important notes regarding firmware upgrades
1. Firmware versions prior to V1.040 had a recording limitation of 25 cuts per loop of the hard drive. From V1.040 onwards this limit was raised to 250000 cuts. As a consequence of this, the area of the hard drive that is used to store the track information (the Header) is larger than in pre V1.040 versions. This increased header area overwrites a small section of the hard disk that was used for storing audio data. After the upgrade, the audio in this section will be lost. It is therefore, very important to download any audio that you require. You must do this prior to upgrading the firmware to V1.059.
2. G.729A firmware versions and non-G.729A firmware versions are not directly compatible. It is important to select the correct upgrade version to ensure that the Net-Log will retain its configuration settings and any recorded audio. If a non-G.729A version of firmware is upgraded with a G.729A enabled version, or vice versa, a full system reset will be required after the upgrade to ensure the new header on the hard drive is initialised correctly. This will result in all audio being deleted.
If you are not sure as to which version you currently have, please follow the following guide. For the firmware versions V1.051, V1.052, V1.053, V1.056 and V1.057, the size of the firmware file, as shown in Windows Explorer, can be used to determine what type it is: For non-G729A enabled versions, the file size of the firmware file (.dwn) will be less than 600 KB. Firmware versions that include the G.729A record format will be in excess of 680 KB.
Firmware feature version numbering
From firmware version V1.063, firmware version numbers will be followed by a three digit code to represent what features have been included. The format of the version number is V1.xxx [abc] where a, b and c identify whether a specific feature is included or not. A '0' indicates the feature is excluded, a '1' indicates the feature is included.
[a] = Special RAI Clock
[b] = Control Interface Option
[c] = G.729A Encoding Option
To check which version of Net-Log-Win you are currently using, select 'Help->About' from the application's menu.
This can also be used to check the version of firmware on the Net-Log unit you are currently connected to, and whether it is a G.729A enabled machine.
The following table can be used to determine the correct firmware upgrade version.
