Sonifex COVID-19 Update
16th September 2020
I’m sure that like us, you thought that the covid situation would have been alleviated by now. Unfortunately the virus is still with us and it looks like something that we’ll be living with for some time to come.
As an update on the situation at Sonifex, we’re in a good position. We’ve stayed open for the duration, initially with a skeleton staff of ⅓ rd and currently with ¾ of our staff working. Approximately ¼ of our staff are still furloughed and this is likely to remain until the end of October when government support stops.
We’ve been using PPE since the start of the outbreak and are still doing so, demarcating safe areas for staff to work in, limiting numbers of staff in certain areas, temperature testing all staff every day, setting up one way systems in communal areas, using outside space wherever possible, installing UV3 viral/bacterial filters in each room, compulsory wearing masks outside ‘safe zones’, and the addition of screens between staff in close proximity.
All of our production staff have been back at work for 2 months and we are running back at full production capacity. Delivery dates are still sometimes affected by logistics issues that covid and the recent holiday season have brought, but we’re hopeful moving forwards.

Since the very early days of the coronavirus outbreak we have taken proactive steps in line with recommendations from Public Health England and the W.H.O. to protect our staff as best we can, by keeping good & safe precautions in terms of isolation, social distancing & cleanliness, to minimise the risk of spreading the virus.
We’d already taken steps for anyone that could work from home to do so, but as a manufacturer, a higher than average number of staff are needed onsite to build & ship products.
From Monday 30th March we’ve taken the unprecedented decision to furlough the majority of our staff and only work with a skeleton staff to provide basic sales support and technical support to customers.
Sales Support
From Monday 30th March, we’ll be able to ship the majority of goods already on order. We’ll also be able to ship goods that are currently in stock. However, access to goods not in stock will be limited and delivery dates might extend. We do have a large goods stock though so please contact us for quotations and sales orders, we’ll do whatever we can to help you.
Unfortunately the uncertainty of the epidemic means that we don’t know when we’ll be able to return to full scale manufacturing, but hopefully it will be soon.
